We are sad to announce that on September 28, 2020 we had to say goodbye to Shirley Ann Lerum of  Dyersburg, Tennessee, born in Chicago, Illinois. Family and friends can send flowers and/or light a candle as a loving gesture for their loved one. She was predeceased by: her parents, Rhinehard Volkmar and Estelle Volkmar; her spouse Nordhal Howard Lerum; and her daughter Cynthia Lerum. She is survived by: her sons, David Lerum of Chattanooga and Dean Lerum of Dyersburg; and her close friend Larry Keen. She is also survived by three grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Halls Funeral Home (109 N Church St, Halls, TN 38040-0247). A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 3rd 2020 at 2:00 PM at the same location. We will be following covid-19 guidelines and masks are recommended.

I can't say it any better than the text message I received from Larry Keen Tuesday, September 29, 2020 @ 2:39 AM. "I have some terrible news that I hate to tell you. Shirley Lerum passed away last night.  She had been my main person for 14 years." 

I know many checker players & wives knew and loved her, and they remember Shirley as a sweet, cheerful, smiling, friendly lady who accompanied Larry to many tournaments, helped organize and supported the Strawberry Festival Checker Tournament in Humboldt, TN.
